Geraint Thomas Cycling Trust appoints new Chair
The Geraint Thomas Cycling Trust is pleased to announce that Owen Rodgers has been appointed as the new Chair of the Board.
Owen steps up after having joined the Board in April.
A passionate sportsman, Owen is CEO of Table Tennis Wales and a Director on the Board of GB Table Tennis, supporting the growth of the game across Wales and the UK.
Owen stated:
“I have already enjoyed working alongside my fellow trustees to help the Trust grow, support more grassroots initiatives, and expand access to cycling for young people from all backgrounds.
“I now look forward to acting as Chair and driving further growth and impact for young people across England and Wales.
“Together, we can inspire the next generation of riders and help ensure that every child has the chance to discover the many benefits that cycling can bring.”
The Trust would like to extend its significant gratitude to former Chair Adrian Coles, who led the charity for five years, since its formation in 2020.
Adrian’s commitment and passion have been vital to the Trust’s progression and impact over recent years. He has overseen important fundraising events and campaigns, including the recent G’s Final Race Raffle around this year’s Tour of Britain – Geraint Thomas’ final professional race – as well as the distribution of grants to the Trust’s beneficiaries, playing a key role in the Trust’s mission of getting more kids on bikes.
Adrian commented:
“It has been a great privilege to serve as the Chair of the Geraint Thomas Cycling Trust and be part of some fantastic work to support young people across England and Wales.
“It’s a fantastic charity that strives to make a difference to young people and help them access the fantastic sport that is cycling. While I’m stepping down from the Board, I will remain a great advocate for the Trust’s work, and am excited to see its continued impact and development under the leadership of Owen.”
